July 3rd and 4th

Not exactly sure why, but here in our "little neck of the woods" they celebrate July 4th on July 3rd? So, on Friday night July 3rd we went to the park and watched Fireworks. I'm not sure if they do it that way so as not to compete with the larger towns and the city or what... but they do a nice job for a small town. They have live music, free jumpy things (whatever they are called) and all the fixin's for a great night out in the park. This year my Dad went with us and we met up with Kelly's friend Olivia's family. It was a beautiful night, probably in the low 70's high 60's and as clear as a bell.

On July 4th, we headed to Virginia with Erik and Ada and the kids to visit Erik's sister Kim and her husband Brian. It was the best day, the weather was great, the kids swam in the pool, we enjoyed the hot tub and ate fantastic food. We were going to stay and go with them to see Fireworks, Lee Greenwood was there. But, we still had a 4hr drive back home and had to be back on Sunday morning to teach Sunday School. So, we let Taylor stay with them and she said (as did Elizabeth) that is was the most amazing Fireworks they have ever seen. They had two shows going on at the same time to the music of Lee Greenwood and they were right under them. Ash falling on them, bodies shaking from the vibrations. I was glad we took Kelly and Anthony home, they would have freaked!!!

Looks like great fun! I agree,
fireworks in small towns are great and sometimes TOO up close and personal!

They do that here too. Red, White, and Boom is always on July 3rd so that the small towns can have fireworks on the 4th. It's nice cause I always see people I know in town. BTW, Taylor looks so cute in that bathing suit.
